Amina's Voice by Hena Khan

5.0

I started reading multicultural middle grade books once I started teaching English Language Development, and it's now become one of my favorite genres. Amina's Voice deals with the complexity of being a first-generation Pakistani-American and trying to navigate both cultures. Amina and her brother, Mustafa, also experience common teenage struggles, such as wanting to fit in, fearing the loss of a close friend, and dealing with stage fright. I'd highly recommend this for middle grade classrooms.
