How to Date Men When You Hate Men
by Blythe Roberson
Blythe Roberson is a HERO. She says all the things that I have bottled up inside me all the time but if I said them I would scream them angrily and be called a radical bitch and lose all the men I know in my life so I attempt to spit them out softened or semi-sarcastically - but she actually does a great job of delivering the same scathing criticism of the Patriarchy via COMEDY. I love her.
This book is super rambly, it's basically a standup routine in a book. And I enjoyed every sentence of it. No super insights here (like I said, I'm already super angry and critical all the time, if you're not, I bet it is FULL of insights!!!) but lots of relief and relatability. I so wish I could deliver the same punches in my day to day conversation with the tools of the patriarchy I interact with on a regular basis. Better yet, I wish they'd read this - I'm sure her methods are much more effective. IS SHE ON TOUR? I want to go see her and bring all the dudes.
LOVED THE ENDING - where she's still single cause, yeah, that's real. Brilliant, worth the read, will give you laughs on the shit that gives you anxiety.
