The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang

Did not finish book. Stopped at 19%.
Conceptually I found this an intriguing read at first, and don't mind that the start was feeling slow. What I did mind was a three page info dump in the format of a literal history lesson, followed by the immediate assertion that most of that exposition was probably inaccurate propaganda. I stopped reading the following chapter when rather than follow up on our protagonist dealing with the newfound knowledge that he's being lied to by his government, was a flashback to Misaki as a youth. Which was, on its own, a cool idea for a book, except I guess that it's all in the past and now she's a meek housewife.
