How can a story be so grim and so beautiful at the same time. I loved Betty and miss her already. Landon had a beautiful soul and I wanted to spend more time with him. I want to hang Trustin’s art on my wall and hunt for rocks with Lint. I want to give Fraya a hug, get Flossie some counseling , and see Leland rot in prison. I could not put the book down as I hurried forward, hoping to see hustuce done and peace and safety achieved. There was something so satisfying and beautiful about Betty’s final confrontation with Leland. He felt the sting of it in his soul and had to live with that. The way she told him that he would see himself in her writing makes me wonder who those words were inspired by, and if he read them. The author is a gorgeous writer and even with all the pain I was captivated and saw moments of beauty and joy.

Skip the kittens. Trust me.
