Sweet Sorrow by David Nicholls
4.5
emotional funny
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Loveable characters: Yes

A 'coming of age' story about 16 year old Charlie Lewis as he navigates his parents divorce, his fathers depression, his first love and finding direction and belonging in a most unexpected place.

Something about this book just got me. The 90s vibes and the nostalgia was perfect, the schoolyard 'banter' was on point and the general awkward, embarassing, emotional and difficult parts of being a 16 year and trying to figure out your place in the world felt very authentic. I loved this book and, as it was my first by the author, I'll be looking for more of his work.

Also, the narrator of the audiobook, Rory Kinnear, was fantastic!
