One Night of Temptation by Darcy Burke

3.0

This Regency romance is the sixth and final book in the Wicked Dukes Club series by two of my favorite romance authors, Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke. While the stories interconnect, each book focuses on one couple and can be enjoyed on its own. It is, however, fun to see all of the couples from the previous books make appearances in this book.

As in the earlier books, both of the main characters in this story are likable. However, I think Lady Penelope seems rather bland compared with the heroines of the previous books, and while I liked Hugh Tarleton, this couple just didn’t have as much chemistry or as many laughs as previous couples. Their relationship developed too quickly and didn’t strike me as very believable. If you don’t mind insta-love stories, you might enjoy this more than I did.

This is a light read with an easily resolved conflict and very sweet ending, although it does offer a bit of suspense along the way. Although I think it’s the weakest of this series, I do recommend this entire series to anyone who enjoys light, humorous historical romance or is craving a simple, feel-good story.

Note that this book includes one lecherous character who makes a few disturbing comments and one scene of premarital sex, but it’s not too graphic.

I received an ARC of this book from the author and volunteered to provide an honest review.
