Charlotte Rose is more than ready to take back her life. Rhys is an interesting man who seems to pop in and out – a good way to keep both Charlotte and us in suspense. Then came a time where he seemed to fade into the background. She made friends with two ex-pats, Michael and Connor and I found myself wanting to see more of them. I got to the point where I was starting to hope that Charlotte and Michael would start something more.
I was glad when Rhys finally made it back into the picture. I understand that the story was told from Charlotte’s point of view but there were a couple of times where I wondered what Rhys was thinking. I try not to read the blurbs on GoodReads because I don’t want to go into a story with certain assumptions. Well, I didn’t do that here and that might be part of the problem I had with this book. That blurb made me expect certain things and maybe it was just my mind but I felt that some things were lacking because of those expectations.
Toward the end I felt that Michael and Connor disappeared but it was nice to at least see that Michael still remained friends. It just felt that something was missing – nothing I could really put my finger on except the lack of connection between me and the story. That was especially true when I got to the end of the epilogue - it left me with the feeling as if someone hit the pause button.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
