A spicy novel and a genre I don't usually read, but that's what book clubs are for - to read things you might not read on your own. The story had a lot going on and the world building wasn't great, though parts of it were descriptive. I liked the idea of seeing galaxies outside windows.

The emotional content felt very angsty and emo, like a melodramatic 20 year old's emotions. I recall feeling similarly about boys in high school and early college. I had way less emotional maturity back then, and Aheia's conflicting thoughts reminded me of those times; before I gained some wisdom and depth, when I used to be selfish and self-centered or self-absorbed, not having a wide view, but a narrow and limited one, where being impulsive seemed like the best option because I didn't yet have enough life experience to make informed choices. That's what Aheia seemed like to me - petulant, impulsive, undeveloped, narrow-minded, self-indulgent, petty.

Also, I don't understand what the blood trade had to do with anything and we never really got into the politics between Eros and Arioch. All of that was vague and seemed unnecessary to the overall story. Why did they go to burn down some warehouse and bring back a redheaded Nephilim who we didn't close the loop on? That was left wide open, but maybe in the next books in the series, it'll be developed more. Not that I'll be reading the next books.

Two stars for effort because I know writing and putting yourself and your ideas out there is a brave journey.
