4.0

First, I would like to thank BookSirens, the author, and publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this title before general publication.

Wow. Just wow. I would have given it 4.5 stars if BookSirens and Goodreads allowed for half stars. I thought to premise sounded interesting, if not a little hokey, when I started reading this. It did take a bit to get really going but then it took off! Some parts were a bit intense, but it was not gory or scary just to be gory but really added to the story. It even takes a supernatural turn (which if I spoke of here would sound completely weird and not in a good way) that was surprisingly natural turn of events.

This would have been 5 stars except for the fact that it take awhile to get going, as mentioned above, but also that April's character, especially in the beginning, was a stereotypical cool, collected, know-it-all. Her character was probably the only one where the dialog was hokey and her character arc felt forced. That being said, I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would and would definitely recommend this title.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
