The Faerie Hounds of York by Arden Powell

3.0

2.5, rounded upto 3 for having some concepts i love even if they were poorly executed

quite disappointed that the characters lacked that much depth like i cant even pin the excuse of the rushed development between thorncress and loxley or just them lacking depth individually on it being a novella. it was really less about the length but mostly how they were written. so yeah. there was zero emotional investment in the characters for me. oof.

anyways the prose was pretty neat tho. the atmospheric writing and all that jazz kept my attention. it really did set up a pretty good fairy tale-esque atmosphere and half the stars is probably for the writing. the rest of the rating is exclusively for the creature/the faerie and the faerie hounds!!

it was a fun and enjoyable read tho esp for some..............specific concepts that initially pulled me in and i cant believe i was rewarded with some follow up on that. extremely pleased by that turn of events tho! i really wasnt expecting that >:)
