I went into this assuming I was going to hate it. Because it was a corny, heterosexual, hospital romance. But I suprisingly kinda liked it? I’m so confused

On one hand yes it was cheesy. It was pretty insta-lovey but I actually wasn’t too upset about it to be honest. The  author did feel the need to beat readers over the head with some ridiculous medephors like the babies in the hospital being born fighting or whatever. That was sort of annoying.

I did think the thoughts surrounding death were interesting. The different POVs that Will and Stella initially had about the terminal nature of their illness. I think it would have been interesting to explore it more.

But god the end annoyed me
authors should not be afraid to leave their books sad. If it leaves the reader feeling like a needle is stuck in their heart, don’t feel the need to tend to their wounds. I think the book would have been so much better if it just left with Will and Stella saying goodbye, and then maybe something brief that tells us what they have been up to, then just leave it at that.

Overall surprisingly good, but not fantastic.
