Mr. Important by Lucy Lennox, May Archer

5.0

"It figured that with Thatcher, nothing about love had gone the way I’d expected, not from the moment I’d agreed to a proposition from a bossy mystery man and found myself kissing my actual boss."

When a masked encounter ends up with him in bed with his longtime crush and boss, Reagan is prepared to put it past him and move on. But a work crisis ends up pushing them together in close proximity while they handle it. On the road and alone with each other, it becomes clear that their first anonymous hookup was just the beginning and what they share is so much more that they ever could have expected.

"My god, he was beautiful. A walking wet dream. A thousand pounds of snarky intelligence in one lithe, sun- kissed package."

Lucy Lennox and May Archer are my go-to's when I want a book that's fun and heartwarming, and they delivered just that with an added bonus of emotions that made me cry and a love that blossoms so beautifully.

"It was rare to see the tender underbelly of a man as strong as Thatcher Pennington, but god, he was adorable."

Reagan and Thatcher start off pretty hot and heavy, but once the masks come off, they slow down pretty significantly and that's when things start to get really good. Their personalities really come through and with it we get to see them build a relationship based on trust and support and a lot of gooey, vulnerable feelings.

"His words were too kind. I didn’t want to start believing them because it would take me about half a second to knit the threads of those offhand statements into a giant happily-ever-after sweater…"

I also have to give a special shoutout to McGee. His banter with Reagan and his multiple feelings talks with both him and Thatcher, made him so endearing to me. His unending support and how he forced them to get out of their own ways was both sweet and hilarious and I'm so excited to read his bonus story!

"The reality of being with him was better than any daydream I’d ever had."

Most of this book takes place away from Honeybridge so it doesn't have the same small-town vibes as book one. But the town and its residents play a pivotal role and managed to get me right in my feelings when I least expected it. I can't wait to get back to them in the next book, but until then, I'd recommend this absolutely charming story for anyone who wants to watch two sweet men fall in love!
