I don’t really know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this. I didn’t connect with the FMC at all, and everything felt extremely underdeveloped even though the book felt like it dragged on. I even thought about not finishing it, but I forced myself through it. I didn’t pick up on a romantic spark between the leads until it was too late, and by then, there wasn’t much redemption left. Everything felt very predictable and cliché, which isn’t normally like Katherine Center in my experience. It honestly felt like a book that could’ve been written in a week. On the positive side, I did love Rue and Hutch as characters and they definitely made it somewhat tolerable to get through. There were some good parts, but not enough to the point where I would recommend this over some other books out right now.
