The Vampire Lestat

The story is fun to read, and I loved Lestat as a character. I enjoyed watching him determine the direction of his life early on. However, the waking of Akasha at the end, while establishing characters for other books, didn't do much for me here and weakened Lestat's story for me. I would have preferred less lore-driven final sections. While we might have learned less about vampires everywhere, we would have learned more about Lestat.
