In Paladin's Strength we meet Clara a stoic nun with an unbelievable secret. We also get to hang out with Istvhan our favorite ginger oil smelling lustful paladin. They meet on page one under circumstances that we kinda gloss over and end up going on a grand adventure that takes you to places you really wouldn't expect.
If Paladins Grace felt like a more modern take this one felt a lot more rooted in an old timey fantasy world. Both books take place on the same timeline so a part of that is because of where they are.

Because Grace and Steven are in their city everything feels a little timeless . Clara and Istvhan however are traveling in rural areas and moving through small towns and taverns and therefore it feels like they are having a bit of a heros journey in a game of DND.  I don't usually enjoy novels where the characters are traveling but I enjoyed this one as the characters they were around often changed up and did a good job in progressing the story. While I preferred Steven and Grace as a couple, I preferred Clara and Istvhan's story.

I've never read a story that took me in this direction. It's a pretty wild premise and the author seemed to have fun with the concept. I'm not sure I'll continue the series but this was a good one.
