Herbert West: Reanimator by H.P. Lovecraft

A classic tale of a mad scientist continuing their experiments despite mounting and increasingly severe consequences. Nobody's surprised when the inevitable conclusion comes, but that doesn't mean you won't enjoy reading it.

I'll say this one moves at a faster pace than many of Lovecraft's work and I can see how it spawned a movie series.
