A Study in Drowning
by Ava Reid
The atmosphere of the book was everything, all things rotting and decaying and the sea and the cliffs, amazing but I wish we explored more of the folklore, for the book told you about how rich of story the land is but really it never delves deep into them, you just get a superficial feeling.
Also the fairy king was terribly fascinating but we didn’t get enough of him, his first appearance was eerie but he’s also the only creature we ever come across. (also SPOILER: he got defeated way too easily c’mon).
In conclusione nice story great atmosphere maybe I wish the ending was more ambivalent and I wish we had more magic, the book could have easily benefitted from more creepy appearances and things lurking in the dark.
