yggdrusill 's review for:
Olympos
by Dan Simmons
It pained me to give up on this book. I loved Simmons' Hyperion/Endymion series and the first book of this duo, Ilium. But Olympos is like a stone I tossed off of a cliff that just kept falling and bumping down to a very rocky bottom.
The storylines involving the moravecs and Hockenberry are interesting--but more than half the book is devoted to the drama of the post-humans, who aren't nearly as interesting as they could be. I felt as if I was forced to linger for many chapters in a world I didn't care about just so I would receive a brief glimpse of the one that I was invested in.
I love Simmons and his writing and will continue to read his books, but this one fell particularly flat for me.
