Love Among the Recipes by Carol M. Cram

4.0

Rating 3.5 / 5

After a tiring day, all I long is to make myself a hot cup of tea and snuggle under covers with a good comforting book. Love Among the Recipes belongs to that comfort book category.

Genna is a cookbook author. She goes to Paris to writer her newest cookbook which is a combination of travel and recipes. I've never visited Paris. But reading this novel was like exploring the city to me. I think the travelogue/cookbook idea is a great new perspective to contemporary romance novels.

The author has managed to tell the story maintaining curiosity. She doesn't tell what happened to Genna until the final third of the book. There is a smooth flow of narration. I loved how detailed it was. As I'm not familiar with some of the locations, I Googled to see them. I think the author has done a good job regarding narration and flow.

Let's talk about the characters. I like the character of Genna. She is not perfect. She has her own flaws but she owns them. The characters I didn't like was Marsha and Becky. Genna did not deserve that treatment from Marsha. And Becky was so annoying. But I think they contributed to the story very much.

I think the dialogues and descriptions were a bit repititive because I skimmed some parts. The slow pacing of the story in some parts made me do that. That's why I gave only 3.5 stars. But I really enjoyed the book. I think Romance fans will find this very enjoyable.

I thank Netgalley and New Arcadia publishers for sending me this ARC to review in exchange for a honest review.
