I really wanted to enjoy this but it fell flat. First what I liked: I thought the guidebook from the mother was some of the most interesting parts. I also loved the flashbacks and the Reddit posts to help reveal pieces of the story. I enjoyed the  three main characters but none of the triplets felt fully fleshed out. Because of this I never felt truly connected to any of them. The plot is what kept me going.

The first major problem was the narration itself. If you’re going to have the main characters have British accents please cast someone who can can actually do the accent! It was so bad that I would have stopped if I hadn’t received this as an arc.

My second major problem was with the story itself. One of the central characters has dementia, but it only seems to actually affect them when it works for the plot. I had a real problem with this. Additionally, there was far too much going on that delayed any actual progress to the story. Which left the ending feeling a bit rushed.

Finally, a minor gripe, as an American I agree fully in  our ability to crumble in and destroy ourselves. However, I find it a tad unbelievable that in a global apocalypse, the UK would be thriving and living relatively normal lives completely unscathed by climate disasters while the US is in ruins.
