Triptych by Karin Slaughter

Did not finish book.
I got this book a while ago and it has been sitting on my bookshelf ever since. When I pulled this out of my TBR tin I was so excited to finally get round to reading this. At first it was interesting to see it starting in a different (around 1991 or earlier) before it skipped to 2006. It was a slow start, beginning with a crime scene and your reading in the POV of a police detective.

Everything was sort of okay, you had a killer on the loose that raped, beaten and bit out the tongues of his victims and the youngest being 10 years old. Then you have the police detective who is on the rocks with his marriage and a disabled 8 year old son. And because he can’t get any romance or sex out of his wife since she works double shifts in a hospital to help get more money for their son’s therapist, he has been next door with a 15 YEAR OLD getting blowjobs and whatever else he gets behind his wife’s back! But that wasn’t what stopped me reading…

I was just coming towards the end of a chapter when these words appeared on my page…and I quote “Are you retarded now? Autistic? Is that what’s wrong with you?”
Being Autistic this sentence got me really upset that I was crying my eyes out because it felt like the author is calling us (autistics) stupid and dumb and it hurt me. After that I couldn’t carry on and ended up DNFing.

I’m not sure if anyone else is okay just reading through this book but I know I’m not.
