I hated this book at first but it got me by the end. I loved getting to see Cassian and Nesta’s relationship evolve, but even more than that I loved Nesta’s character development. I thought the plot of this book was surprisingly good. Like, it seriously caught me off guard. The blood rite, the dread trove, all of it was so good. I thought it was a solid addition to the original series, although it wasn’t my favorite by far.

I really don’t have much to say other than the fact that I listened to the audiobook (specifically the Graphic Audio version) and I thought there was much to be improved upon. I cringed deeply more than once and some of the voice acting and sometimes the music felt very out of place and inappropriate for what was going on at the time.

Despite all this, I enjoyed listening to it. By far not the best thing I’ve read all year, especially because of how hard it was for me to get into it, and I do think it’s been overhyped, but it kept me entertained and I was swayed by the end. Honestly, everything was pretty on point. I’d definitely recommend it.
