I have never been more in love with two characters in MY LIFE. Marian and Rob could rob me and leave me destitute, and I would THANK them. I would get on my knees, weeping, thanking them for gracing me with their presence.
In all seriousness, though, nothing makes me as feral as having TWO bi main characters. I love one bi mc as much as the next bi girl, but you give me TWO bi mcs, and I start frothing at the mouth. There's just something so incredibly powerful about the energy between two bisexuals. I cannot put it to words. All I can say is that Marian is the perfect woman: prickly, serious, and used to getting her way. Rob is the perfect man: charming, eager to please, and dedicated to the well being of those he loves. How was I NOT supposed to fall madly in love? I need them both to be real, so I can be with them for the rest of my days ðŸ˜
On top of that, the humor in this book is absolute perfection! The dialogue is just so on point. I was highlighting every other page because of how silly and perfect the characters were. This is EXACTLY what I want from the historical romances I read. I want to be cackling the entire way through. I also want to be swooning. This book delivered on both. We love to see it.
All in all, I have never been more blessed in my life. I was so happy the entirety of the time I was listening to the audiobook of this. I literally immediately bought the first book when I was only halfway through this one because I loved this so much. If the first one doesn't deliver, I will be shook to my very core.
cw (I didn't see included in storygraph): ableist language such as lunatic, dimwit, idiot, etc.
