I really really wanted to love this one given the setting of it and it just kept missing that extra oomph for me. That is not to say I didn’t enjoy it, cause I did and I would definitely read this author again.

Norse myths are one of those things that interest me and that you don’t get as much of in books so a huge plus for me. Unfortunately it felt like I was supposed to know more about the intricacies in the world before they were actually told to me. I am all for learning things along with the main character vibe, but with one of the dual POV being a Valkyrie I just felt I was missing things for a while that she knew when in her POV.

The oomph in the romance was missing for me. I wanted a few more moments shown and thoughts had to really convince me of how their feelings were changing and growing. I did appreciate that both characters had a personal growth outside of the romance. I did really enjoy the journey and overall plot outside of the romance.

Overall a good book that I just wish had a few refinements and that extra bit that pulled everything together more fully.
