I enjoyed this deeply. It’s not easy to read, and the subject matter is terrible and painful. I think the writing is beautiful, straightforward, intentional, and adept, and the story is great. And she’s a lesbian, and the novel ends with hope and a new (new, new) beginning. Of course I loved it.
