TROPES
🥯 Age Gap (8 years)
🥯 He Falls First and Harder
🥯 Instalust
🥯 Billionaire Romance
🥯 Dual POV
After how much I loved the novella, I was super excited to start reading Amanda and Jack’s full story. And while I liked seeing them reconnect and have their happy ending, something about their story felt a bit rushed and unfinished to me.
How they reconnected makes sense, even if Amanda wanted to fight it. And it was great to see it happen over a reasonable period of time. However, once that reconnection did happen, it almost felt like time wasn’t considered anymore. Suddenly the timeline didn’t quite make sense to me and I felt confused over how much time they’d actually spent together.
There is a fun mystery that weaves its way through the narrative regarding Amanda’s ancestry, and that was fun to watch. However, it did feel a bit underbaked to me. There was no anticipation, no real work into solving clues. Those are what make a mystery for me, so I was a bit disappointed in that respect.
I do think had I not read the novella first I would’ve enjoyed the book more. I think the novella set an expectation that the book didn’t quite meet for me at times, which is okay. I still had a fun time reading their story, even if some things didn’t work for me.
