I'm so glad I went into this book completely blind, because I couldn't put it down despite the presence of tropes that I would not ever gravitate towards.  Proof that a well-executed love triangle can work.

The quote that kept going through my head (not referenced at all in the book) is "We tell ourselves stories in order to live" from Joan Didion's The White Album.  A big chunk of the book is about Laura's journey of discovering her past and the stories we tell about love.

This is a lot more of a ~women's fiction~ leaning romance book (and it is closed-door) that is much more about Laura's personal journey than focused on a specific relationship.  I think if you like Emily Henry's romance books (for the side plots and characters) and you like the setting (and dead father plot) of Tessa Bailey's Bellinger Sisters books, give this book a chance.  I personally would have preferred a bit of smut thrown in there instead of just being told they have "movie sex" (which is not very appealing as a descriptor, personally).  I do think this would make a fantastic movie.

I liked the ending and appreciated that there wasn't a stupid third act conflict, especially for such a whirlwind romance (a week!).  I don't need or want any grand professions of love after only a few days and neither should you.  Sometimes it felt like each character had too much drama going on that it detracted a bit, but the side characters in here are all delightful and interesting people that I didn't particularly mind.
