So I was really hyped up reading the beginning of the story. I love romantic suspense and this one just hit the spot. There is drama, mystery, secrets, the whole shebang. There were lovable sidecharacters with their own personalities. I cried, and there were twists I did NOT see coming. The holy grail for me to give a book 5*. So why didn't I?

Because of (in hindsight) uncharacteristic jackassery from the MMC.

Jack finds out Jenna is still alive. He is aware he stopped looking and she didn't. He is told she was probably assaulted for 6 days. First order of business: shove his finger up her coochie. WHY? Don't you at least want to talk to the woman you pined over for a decade?

Then the following happens after the finger in coochie moment:

'This conversation isn't hers to lead. I've suffered for years without her, and this is my time' Remember: HE GAVE UP AND SHE DIDN'T.

This doesn't mean I hated the MMC. He was actually really cute so this all felt like a different person.

Small spoiler ahead:

It is mentioned Grizz doesn't want to say why he's desperately looking for Dana. I really hope the reason isn't a surprise pregnancy, that would put me off the rest of the series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
