Crazy for Loving You by Pippa Grant

5.0

ONE STAR” (x’s FIVE) = ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I originally wrote in my Amazon review for this title that this was my first Pippa Grant book but looking at the Goodreads author’s titles list, I see that I actually read a few of her books and didn’t care for them. I seem to be hit or miss with this writer’s stories. I deeply enjoy her strength in writing refreshing metaphors and similes. I’m not a fan of the improbable and unrealistic scenes or settings.

Having read two of the three other Bluewater Billionaires in the series (penned by other authors,) I didn’t expect to like Daisy too much but at this point, she’s now my favorite of the “vagillionaires.”

While I don’t care for over-the-top, farcical situations... like Daisy’s mother’s “penises as art” theme or the crazy interior decoration of Daisy’s house, the dialogue and overall flavor of the novel was comedic genius. Daisy’s references to her grandmother being a paranormal entity of various kinds regularly had me in stitches.

I was a huge fan of Westley and his family. Their email threads were a funny highlight in the book.

This author obviously knows how to write about mothering infants and the romance she penned was refreshingly different. My one exception to my appreciation for novelty was when Daisy went into a sort of ‘rogue martyr’ tailspin. That knee jerk reflex seems almost like its own trope and it irks me, (but not enough to withhold a star ⭐️ in this case.)

*My ONE STAR headline played on the constant-one-star ratings for which Daisy’s cousin (the birth mom of Remy,) was known/reviled. In all seriousness, this 5 star book was up my alley and I will definitely re-read it.
