Wish Upon A Streaming Star: Season 1 Volume 1 by Krissi Dallas
5.0
You know that feeling when you read a great book and someone asks you what it is about, but nothing comes to mind, except it's sooo good, you have to read it?
Wish Upon a Streaming Star is that kind of a book. It's hilarious with seriously witty bickering, romantic (that Dirty Dancing lift... omg), but also manages to pull at every one of your heartstrings- there is one scene where I cried my eyes out along with the characters.
Caz and Dizzy are next-door neighbors. They have been best friends since forever, until the start of the Senior year, when something happened and they have been avoiding each other ever since.
Caz is a very famous YouTuber. He started his video as a way to deal with the grief of losing a father, and it ballooned into something big, but it also changed everything, and not all in a good way. Dizzy is trying to keep her life together. The family business is failing and her mother's cancer, it's a lot to put on one girl's shoulder. She has spent the last year trying to ignore all of the feelings and just move on.
It took one very noisy neighbor on a night she was supposed to be studying for the SAT, and it boiled over. She marched over there, for the first time in months, only to see Caz fall into the dumpster. Scared he was hurt, she jumped to help him, only to find out it was all just for a stupid video. And she is not exactly the girl to keep the thought to herself, so she kind of yelled at him, not knowing they were streaming the prank live.
The next day the unbreakable lockbox appeared with a lot of money, that Daisy's and Caz's if they finished the challenge an anonymous person had set for them. They receive messages with instructions and have to reenact famous movie scenes on live streams. He needs the subscribers, she desperately needs the money. What could possibly go wrong? :)
As they dive deeper into the challenges and are forced to spend time together, their old issues come forth.
I was hooked from the very start and couldn't believe when I reached the last chapter, that it was already over. I'm not ready to let Caz and Dizzy go. And to think that the entire book takes over just a few days. Can't imagine how much more will happen in the next one. Which I hope is coming out soon, tomorrow is good! :)
