Probably my least favourite Richard Osman book, although I still enjoyed it. I think a lot of my problems lie in loving Thursday Murder Club and it’s characters so much that I can’t help wishing we had another book with them, but that doesn’t make this book any less fun. Where “Thursday” is very cosy, this mystery is more action packed - not a bad thing, although I did find it easy to work out who the bad guys were (in the first half of the book). Where Osman really excels is in his emotional connection to the characters, you develop such empathy for the characters that they become living and breathing so quickly. It’s a real strength he has there and it makes me come back to his writing every year.
