As someone who identifies as having faith, albeit somewhat confused (there are parts of the bible I just can't agree with!) I found the stories of Tom's school life entertaining, but the religious element was rather grating and pushy! That said, it was written at a time when the religious element is understandable. Would today's young adults enjoy this book? I'm not sure. I'm glad to have read it, and I liked Tom Brown and his chums, but I'm not sure I could recommend it! 3/5
