This book got me out of my reading slump. Picked it up off a whim. Went in with no expectations & just had the best time. This is romantasy at its best. A good balance of plot & world building while keeping the romance the centre of the story. I had such a good time. Nothing too though provoking but it was certainly keeping me engaged the whole book.
Spoiler…. Maybe?
The only thing that gave me pause was when I feel Penn got a personality switch up mid way through. He went from quiet and brutish to hot headed quickly. I wish he was just hot headed the whole time because that’s what makes sense.
I also have no idea why he treated Rhya the way he did in the beginning (ie throwing her like a sack of grain on his horse for one) it seems so unlike something he would do once you get to his personality in the second half? It was a little disjointed.
I dunno. Overall, I had a great time. I can’t wait for the next one.
