This was the first queer book I ever read as a teenand will always have a special place in my heart, it’s just a shame that the author is transphobic, and please be aware of that before going into this and when recommending it.
But as a gay coming of age story this book just made me feel so seen, for the most part the interactions felt so natural and I love the dynamics with the parents. There was so much love but also typical teen angst tension that I know my 15 year old self had. As with all coming of age stories I think enjoyment depends of personal experience. Another thing this handels really well was themes of masculinity and how this intersected with sexuality.
