Another incredibly good, unusual, and fascinating book by Caitlin Doughty. If you haven't read her debut Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, you should definitely start there. I feel like having the background information about embalming, cremation, and the wide variety of other treatments for human bodies serves as a perfect primer to be able to fully consider and enjoy reading about the long term care and placement of bodies found in this book.

Caitlin does a fantastic job of keeping things light, respectful, and funny even when talking about very dark and what could be potentially disturbing topics and imagery.

The illustrations in this book were a lovely addition, and a gentle way of helping us imagine what is being described without actually requiring her readers to look at dead bodies - something I really appreciated.

Can't recommend this book enough. After all, we are all going to die, why not learn all you can about one of the few things we all have in common?
