The Things We Cannot Say
by Kelly Rimmer
i went in to this with low expectations and ended up… surprisingly moved, there’s a quiet weight to the story, even if it sometimes feels like it’s trying a little too hard to make you feel something. what resonated most was how history and the present were so seamlessly interwoven—not just as timelines, but emotionally. i enjoyed reading alina’s chapters more than alice though, because while alina’s chapters were raw, captivating and deeply engaging, alice’s narrative sometimes portrayed her as overly controlling and rigid, making it hard to agree with her actions most of the time. nevertheless, it was a pretty good read, 4 stars ⭐️
