Better Than The Movies follows hopeless romantic Liz, who enlists the help of annoying boy next door Wes, to get her long-term crush to take her seriously and ask her to prom. But as her and Wes get closer over the length of their scheme, Liz begins to think that maybe what she’s been looking for has been right next to her all along. I loved both Liz and Wes. I recommend this book because I’m a sucker for a hopeless romantic and a collection of romance cliche’s, the callbacks to some of the best rom coms that have been made add another layer of love to the story. Lynn Painter really did her research and knows what she’s doing. This story also reminds you that life’s too short to not tell people how you feel. ‘It seemed to me that because of things like car accidents and lost loves, life and death and broken hearts, we should grab every moment and absolutely devour the good parts.’
