I feel like I needed some time to think about how I felt about this book, but honestly I still have mixed feelings about it. Overall it was a nice/okay rom com but I’m a bit disappointed, because I had heard so many good things about it.

The plot felt cliché. I mean, the FMC wants to change (including losing weight) in order to gain the attention of her crush. Besides this, some of Joellen’s decisions were really questionable. I mean, the FMC is in her 30s but sometimes behaved like a teenager. However, she was sadly quite relatable. She’s an eldest sister who gets constantly compared to her younger sister, and doesn’t really have a healthy relationship with her family.

Michael, the boss, was really easily hateable. Not to spoil anything, but him breathing was enough to piss me off. On the other hand, Cameron was the absolute best. Funny, caring and handsome. I feel like I added 0.5 stars because the banter between Joellen and Cameron was so good. I had not laughed like this in a while.

The ending felt quite rushed compared to the pace of the book. Anyway, It is a slow burn, so don’t expect spice in the first half of the book.
