A bit pretentious in its diction and a slog to read. The story had a lot of potential and some parts were genuinely great, but some sequences and the ending was a bit cheap. For such a short book this felt very drawn out, and tried to fit way too much story into a small novel. Classic, yes, but not worthy of the Great American Novel.
