The Boardwalk Bookshop by Susan Mallery
4.0

We meet three ladies who decided to lease a shop lease on the boardwalk. Bree owns and runs the bookshop; Mikki owns and runs the gift shop and Ashley owns and runs the bakery. Every Friday to celebrate their businesses, their friendship they all meet on the beach out the front of their shop. There they discuss their lives and help each other to be the best they can be.
Bree hasn’t had a tough upbringing, her parents had her but didn’t really want her and she has made all the decision for herself from an early age. She has trouble trusting people which in turn makes it hard for her to make friends.
Mikki is divorced and is struggling to take the next step to meet someone new. With help from her friends, she signs up on as online dating site. She meets someone but has to make the decision, is this really what she wants or does she want to get back with her husband?
Ashely wants to get married but learns that Seth doesn’t, can they work things out or are they parting ways?
As we follow the 3 friends and their lives, we learn more about them. I really enjoyed all the characters but found Bree a bit annoying and quite childlike at times. I could understand Mikki’s doubts about dating again, it was well written and believable. I felt sorry for Ashley when she learns that Seth doesn’t want marriage. I liked the way Susan Mallery dealt with all the situations the characters found themselves in. Their friendship and the way they helped each other was so good. The plot line was good and well-paced.
So, if you are looking for a good summer read then pick this one up.
