The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket
4.0

Another enjoyable installment in this series of unfortunate events. This was always my favourite part of the movie, when I was a kid, and as much as I still enjoy it, I have to say I enjoyed it a little less than the first.
It's still a well written, fun, often sad, story, but I simply preferred the first book. My only gripes with this book are the ones it shares with other books I've read that involve snakes, those being that poison is used in place where venom should be used, and that snakes apparently blink, which they don't, since they have no eyelids.
But aside from those little nit-picking complaints, I think the fact that reptiles, snakes in particular, are shown in a positive light makes up for it. I'm a snake lover and have two of my own, so I appreciate it when they're shown as being friendly, as my biggest snake is an absolute sweetheart. Also, I let the venom-poison mistake slide since they aren't real snakes.
