this book made clear what the obvious is. the way we treat victims of rape today is no different than the 1700s. the way society is so quick to blame and criticize victims from both time periods especially when the evidence is right in front of them. “what clothes were you wearing?” “why were you alone?” “what were you doing up so late?” you’d think we as a society today would have made some kind of effort to make rape victims comfortable with coming forward…we unfortunately have taken steps backwards instead of forward in that regard. it’s always his words against hers.
