The Last Smile in Sunder City by Luke Arnold
3.0
I enjoyed this book quite a bit more than i expected.
This is an urban fantasy.
My first one, in fact.
Also a mystery noir.
Well, kinda, as the 'detective' is not very competent, by his own admission.
First book in a series, the mystery is *kinda* passable, but this book really feels more like a setup, which is like a let-down i guess.
But i really found the world intriguing, and it makes one hope that ... things might get better?
Also, my bias is that I watched *Black Sails*, simple as.
World quite interesting, main character voice interesting, main character was kinda like-able, some of his decisions are brutal though, other characters are nice too.
I will continue on the second book, of course, i really do hope fetch becomes more ... active, and less passive, and that he actually does things and not have clues just drop in to his lap etc.
But according to the author's own words, the second book has a lot
The romance was very slight, and very enjoyable for it, the decision of italicizing whole chapters is definitely ... a decision ...
