Noli Me Tángere by Harold Augenbraum, José Rizal
4.0

Devoured this book~ a good book with moving stories, real-life events, and characters that you could find anywhere in the world as they are so real they jump to us through the pages. You can be profoundly affected by their desires, simple lives but important choices and how these choices change the path of their life.
It gives us a good idea of how the Philippines were profoundly affected by colonialism and how religion persisted and in the majority of times tried to suffocate its people and to suppress their freedom by using "God" as a figure of fear. This book also helped know that the Philippines were the first Asian country to set itself free of its colonizer Spain.
All in all, I just wished Rizal had the time to have written a sole story on the character of Elias, as he was the one that interested me most.
