The Summer Deal by Jill Shalvis
4.0
This is listed as #5 in a series, but is definitely stand-alone-enough that I didn't miss a thing. I also realized later one that I read the first book on the series anyway.
I don't know how I would react if I found out I had a half-sister. I feel like that revelation in this book (not a spoiler - it's on the back cover) is handled fairly well. It might help that the Brynn and Kinsey have a history together (although one fraught with hating each other at summer camp) and are adults when the truth comes all the way out. I mean, for the most part they're pretty mature about the whole thing.
That is, until there is no communication at all during the road trip which super bugged me. One of them just goes along with the other's idea to "Let's jump in the car and drive for hours to this end goal that I think will be perfect!" even though she knows full well the end goal will be anything BUT perfect ... and she refuses to take any of the opportunities she's given to explain why. Waste of time and gas money.
Why is so much media founded on frantic but incomplete conversations:
"You have to listen to me!!" [but says nothing]
"You don't understand!!" [but never clarifies]
"I have to tell you something important." [but never gets around to it]
