The Whispering Skull
by Jonathan Stroud
Fun read, low risk and easy going. I saw every twist coming from a mile off but then this is YA, so that's not necessarily a problem. That said, it was a bit annoying to have to wait for the main cast to catch up. There's a lot of bumbling around while ignoring obvious answers in this book that got old after a while. Also, just as a side note - I have no clue what time this is supposed to be playing in. It sounds like it's turn of the century, but then a guy has a "Biro" and people are wearing "Puffer Jackets"? On the whole, I think some more editing would have done this book good.
