Stopped at chapter 41 to give it a proper chance. I love Kai and I was excited to read his story. While I felt so much empathy for him and Johanna as individuals, I could not get behind them as a couple. I never felt the connection between the two and didn’t understand how he fell in love with her. I get that the book is about addiction but it felt like I was just reading a compilation of parties, binges and sex scenes. Sadly, it wasn’t the book for me which is a shame because ‘Hawke’ is one of my favorites. I would still recommend the book because I don’t ever want to discourage anyone from reading what might be their new favorite book 🙌🏼
