The book was an easy read. It’s been awhile since I’ve read one Meg Cabot’s books. It was not a disappointing plot. But there could have been more parts fleshed out more especially by the end. The romance between the two characters seemed a bit too rushed. I think some of the earlier flashbacks could have been cut down more to allow more develop with Jessica and Derrick’s relationship in the present. I enjoyed the side characters, they seem to liven up certain parts in the book. Otherwise, I get the sense this could the be the beginning of series focusing on West Harbor and different characters in the town since there was such emphasis on so much of the supporting cast. I would be interested in picking up a sequel since the universe is established more, it could have some time to breathe and allow more exploration of the characters and their books. *As an aside, the audiobook is great for any audio listeners.
