I was really looking forward to reading this, but if i’m honest, it was a bit of a disappointment. The concept of this book is incredibly interesting, but it was explored or delved into nearly as much as it could have been. The first half was very slow, building up to the moment of captivity, but once it got going, it was too fast. Every scene felt like it was just being skimmed over, and for a story that took place over 7 years, I would have expected to see a lot more of what happened that was we get.

The horror was good and effective, and the writing was poetic when it wasn’t grammatically incorrect or misspelled. The whole layout of this book was really odd too, like there would just be one paragraph on a page and then it would continue on a full page next, leaving a huge blank gap on a page?

I may pick up other books from this author because I do think she has a lot of potential, but yeah, i was rather disappointed unfortunately :(
