Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge

5.0

This book is super important, and I think really necessary for everybody to read, to be able to start grasping the situation regarding race in Britain. It really covers a whole wealth of ground - starting with the history of black people within Britain, and moving on to the present-day situation, as well as how race intersects with feminism and class. The book is also written in a very readable style - I've read very few non-fiction books, especially social commentary books, because they are often very dry and hard to follow, but this managed to cover topics in-depth without feeling exclusionary in its language.

I generally consider myself quite aware, but the statistics included, and some of the historical facts, really shocked me. We, as white people, have a lot of work to do in this country, and I think if everybody read this book it might give us a decent place to start.
